Fight Night Program – Week of June 8-14
The weekend is approaching, and from Friday to Sunday it will be “fight-o-clock” somewhere in the world. Every Thursday, The Ring will bring you the most up-to-date information on the most relevant fights you need to see in this week-at-a-glance, one-stop enhanced fight schedule. A quick checklist for the cognoscenti, a useful nuts-and-bolts guide for the boxing neophyte is what we’re aiming at.

Last-minute change of opponents, almost no press before the event, and more of the same Broner-being-Broner thing. Let’s hope for an uneventful weigh-in and an above-average showing by “About Billions” before we arrive at any other conclusions.

Josh Taylor vs. Teofimo Lopez – junior welterweight – 12 rounds
A terrific matchup between two highly entertaining fighters. Taylor is the favorite in everyone’s prediction but no one would be surprised to see Lopez scoring yet another upset in his hometown. The fight of the weekend, no doubt.
Xander Zayas vs. Ronald Cruz – junior middleweight – 8 rounds
Puerto Rico’s Zayas has demonstrated that he is the real thing. Can he bring on the heat to the next level? Cruz will be a solid test at this stage of Zayas’ career.

Jaime Munguia vs. Sergiy Derevyanchenko – super middleweight – 12 rounds
Tough proposition for the unbeaten Munguia. Derevyanchenko may be 1-3 in his last four bouts but he’s as dangerous as they come, and it’s almost impossible to look good against him. A win could definitely give Munguia the confidence to aim even higher.
