Middleweight Euri Cedeno does not mind getting matched tough early in his pro career.

Cedeno will face another tough challenge Friday night as he squares off against Yoanki Urrutia at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida. The eight-round fight will open the DAZN stream of a BoxLab Promotions card (8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT).

Cedeno has been active, fighting for the fifth time in 2023 against Urrutia.

In his last bout on October 27, Cedeno fought to a split-decision draw against Dayan Depestre. Less than three months prior to the draw against Depestre, Cedeno stopped Fabrizio Rubino in the opening round.

On July 8, in a clash of unbeaten middleweights, Cedeno, who was born and raised in La Romana in the Dominican Republic, stopped William Townsel, also in the first round.

Manager Trifon Petrov has kept Cedeno busy and he is also confident the hard-hitting southpaw will put forth a solid performance at the expense of Urrutia. Petrov also expects bigger things for Cedeno in 2024.

“Euri has a tough fight ahead of him this Friday,” Petrov told The Ring. “We wanted to put him right back in as soon as possible after his last fight. He is fighting another tough undefeated Cuban. We felt like he had (an) off-night the last time around, but I think he edged a close decision against Depestre. Unfortunately, the judges had it a draw and they didn’t score a clean knockdown for Euri midway through the fight, which would’ve given us the win.

“(Euri) has a lot riding on this fight and I expect him to get right back on track and finish the year with a win.”

The 24-year-old is promoted by Marshall Kauffman and has recently sparred the likes of junior middleweight contender Jesus Ramos.

Urrutia (13-0, 5 KOs), who is originally from La Tuna, Cuba and now resides in Miami, Florida, defeated journeyman Esau Herrera de la Cruz by decision over eight one-sided rounds on September 29. In his previous fight on June 17, Urrutia defeated Abel Adriel by unanimous decision.

The 27-year-old has won his last seven bouts by decision. Urrutia is promoted by Laura Ching and is co-managed by Osmiri Fernandez and William Ramirez.

In the main event of the BoxLab Promotions card, Fradimil Macayo (16-1, 13 KOs) of Carupano, Venezuela will square off against Miami’s Idalberto Umara (11-1, 8 KOs) in a 10-round lightweight bout.
